SM10 ‘Double Blaze,’ ‘GG End,’ and ‘Sky Legends’ Announced!
I’ve been working on my film for two years and finally delivered it last night after staying up for 36 hours straight! Ahh!!!
Three new sets are coming to Japan in March and April!
The tenth Sun & Moon era set, SM10 Double Blaze, will release in Japan on March 1st. It’ll feature 95 cards (excluding secret rares).
Charizard & Reshiram-GX will be a new Tag Team in the set if the booster pack artwork by Mitsuhiro Arita didn’t already give it away. A new “Charizard & Reshiram-GX Tag Team” deck box and card sleeves will release alongside the set.
Two mini-sets will then hit store shelves in April, making this the first time two sets are releasing within the same month. This is likely happening because Japan’s annual “Golden Week” starts April 29th. It’s a series of national holidays where people get time off work and spend more money. Pokemon is likely trying to capitalize on this, especially with the recent boom in the TCG’s popularity. In other words, this saturated release schedule is probably a one-time thing.
The first mini-set is named GG End and will release on April 5th, featuring 54 cards. The “GG” refers to Giratina and Garchomp (Gablias) and could also refer to the common term “good game.” It’s a Dragon-themed set. The booster pack features Garchomp and Giratina, so it’s almost certain we’ll get a Dragon-type Garchomp & Giratina-GX Tag Team card.
A new Sky Legends mini-set will release three weeks later on April 26th featuring Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres. It too will feature 54 cards. No other details are known about the set. Wouldn’t it be cool if we get Tag Team cards of the birds like the original Articuno, Moltres, & Zapdos jumbo card?
In other news, March 1st will see the release of a new “Deck Build Box Tag Team GX.” It’ll feature ten packs of Double Blaze and 158 other cards, including Tapu Lele-GX, Cynthia, and Guzma. It’ll retail for 3,000 yen, or about $30. (Note that the image below is showing a dummy image of an older product, so if you noticed that Double Dragon Energy and VS Seeker on the box art, don’t get your hopes up!)
March 15th will see a box oriented toward families called a “Family Pokemon Card Game.” It’ll come with a large coin to make it easier for children to flip their coins, bands to wrap decks in, and it will probably include some decks too. It’ll cost 2,000 yen, or about $20.
