Shiny GX, Lycanroc-GX from ‘GX Ultra Shiny;’ Worldwide Card Legality Coming!

The official Japanese Pokemon Card website has revealed several cards that will be included in GX Ultra Shiny! The set will release in Japan on November 2nd.

New cards revealed include “shiny” or “super” secret rares (SSRs) of Zygarde-GX, Rayquaza-GX, and Charizard-GX that feature the Pokemon’s shiny coloring over unique white backgrounds. One shiny GX will automatically be included in each booster box.

Presumably there will be a shiny rare for every GX shown on the set’s booster pack. Rayquaza-GX is #240/150, so there will at least be 90 secret rares. (Yikes!) They probably won’t have the usual real-world rarity of secret rares, as this would make it impossible to collect them all. As posted a while ago, each booster pack will include one GX, so this is probably how they’ll make it easier for fans to collect them all.

A new Lycanroc-GX (in its Dusk Form) and Wonder Labyrinth Prism Star Stadium were also revealed! Lycanroc-GX will be included in our February Team Up set. Thanks goes to Bangiras for the translations!

Lycanroc-GX – Fighting – HP200
Stage 1 – Evolves from Rockruff

Ability: Twilight Eye
When you play this card from your hand to evolve a Pokemon during your turn, you may discard an Energy from your opponent’s Active Pokemon.

[F][C][C] Accelerock: 120 damage.

[F] Radial Edge GX: 30x damage. This attack does 30 damage times the number of Energy cards in your opponent’s discard pile. (You can’t use more than 1 GX attack in a game.)

When your Pokemon-GX is Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

Weakness: Grass (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 2

Wonder Labyrinth Prism Star – Trainer
Stadium

You can’t have more than 1 Prism Star card with the same name in your deck. If a Prism Star card would go to the discard pile, put it in the Lost Zone instead.

Each player’s Pokemon (excluding [Y] Pokemon) pays [C] more to use its attacks.

As long as this Stadium is in play, whenever a player uses an Item or Supporter card from their hand, prevent all effects of those cards done to this Stadium.

This card stays in play when you play it. Discard this card if another Stadium card comes into play. If another card with the same name is in play, you can’t play this card.

The rest of the revealed cards are straight-up reprints of earlier cards or alternate art versions that we’ve already received in America. We know these aren’t the only GX that will be in the set, as shiny Espeon-GX, Ho-Oh-GX, Stakataka-GX, and more are on the booster pack.

The reprinted cards use the “A” or “B” from their original sets, confirming the theory that this will be the way Japan specifies which cards will be legal in the future. This also means Japan and America will soon have synced legalities!

As posted a while ago, GX Ultra Shiny will also feature new full art versions of Cynthia and Guzma. There will also be new Supporter cards for Subway Bosses Ingo & Emmet as well as Battle Chatelaine.

Is it possible that they would reprint every hyper rare into a shining? Because rayquaza is 240/150. I can't imagine which secrets we'll else get except the full art trainer cards.

I have been waiting quite some time for PRC Crawdaunt to return to standard. This Lycanroc might be just the trick.

Nah not possible with the gaps between Charizard to Zyagarde and Zygarde to Rayquaza.

Also Charizard is 59 spots ahead of the last card in the set. This set will have it's own normal secret rares, but there certainly won't be enough of those and SSR grass GXs to put Charizard that high...so I think that all the SSRs will have SRs that are shiny versions of their regular GXs

    This is disgusting.

I really think I'm done after seeing this. Gen 7's TCG has broken me as a collector.

I'm going to shift collector gears with Lost Thunder. Just getting 1 of each and playsets of all the trainers and GXs instead of playsets of everything (minus SRs). These sets are getting out of control. Space is becoming an issue.

  12. Lycanroc could see some play in Zoroark/Lycanroc, it has a better attack and a good ability and a situationally better GX attack compared to the midnight forme
Heres how I think this set came to be:
TPCI Boss: how do we make some extra $$$$$
TPCI Grunt: how about we reprint Lele and make shiny versions of already existing cards so we don't have to put any effort into the set
TCPI Boss: Brilliant!, it will go perfectly with Let's Go!

Seems like they were trying to make product a bit harder to get then a famous Japanese Youtuber said he liked Pokemon then the whole thing exploded again, like when Pokemon Go came out.

To give you an idea how bad it is, a few weeks, maybe a month ago now, Mega Tokyo Pokemon Center was completely out of packs for at least part of a day.

Check this out. What is available online now from Japanese Pokemon Center, think this brings the point home more than anything. No SM era boxes or packs in stock. The next set pre-orders at 1 per customer sold out within a day as well. But they will have more listed at release.

Nah. Goomy never saw tournament success so it's consider a bad card until a top players tries to make it work.

I wonder if TPCi is rejecting the prospect of even trying to integrate Super Secret Rares into their card packing systems in a way that is unintentionally encouraging players to go to Expanded, Laserbank and all, where their favorite GX is guaranteed to stay in format until it and if it is banned, even if the issue is unrelated to anything not to do with the rarity? Despite their perceived refusal to reprint anything within the S&M block other than set mascots and some Trainers on a season when they are about to make their last gasp in Standard without the opportunity for one last chance in the projected final set of the Tag Team TCG block expected to hit on November 2019, the same month the next generation is expected to hit on the VG end, even if such refusal means not even trying a new challenge in terms of "what category of rarity are they?", even if I believe that Super Secret rares would be cool to have in English at some point this year, because of their rarity and rainbow rares combined with a clear image, not just an image obscured by a rainbow hue meshed into their image?

^ If that action holds firm, then I doubt that any of the good pokemon-GX will make it to the last season of the SUM group(Sun & Moon-Crimson Invasion, Ultra Prism-Lost Thunder, and SM9-SM12), even if the issue here is not the name, but the different looks of card type, and not the art appropriate within said card type, not to mention that I bet fans will be disappointed if they find those shinies to only be made as Japanese-exclusive cards for the purpose of catering to Pokemon's home base with no plans to localize said cards for release outside Japan, even if such cards utilizes a new type of rarity that would spook non-Japanese pokemon fans thanks to TPCi choosing not to even bother trying to manufacture cards of a higher rarity than the rarities they already use currently vs. that of what Creatures Inc.(the responsible party for pokemon card-packing in Japan?) has now, and that would be a bummer... :(
