Magearna-EX from XY11!!

Magearna-EX from XY11 Explosive Fighter and Cruel Traitor has been revealed! The set will be released in Japan on June 17th to promote the Volcanion and the Mechanical Magearna movie. The set will then be released in America on August 3rd as XY11 Steam Siege.

Basic Pokemon

Ability: Mystic Heart
Prevent all effects of your opponent’s attacks, except damage, done to each of your Pokemon that has [M] Energy attached to it.

[M][C][C] Soul Blaster: 120 damage. During your next turn, this Pokemon’s Soul Blaster attack does 60 damage.

When a Pokemon-EX has been Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

Weakness: Fire (x2)
Resistance: Psychic (-20)
Retreat: 1

This is the first time in the TCG’s history that a Pokemon from a future generation has been included in a main set. Previously, Pokemon Card Laboratory always released upcoming Pokemon as promos with owners in their names (such as “Aura’s Lucario ex”).

The artwork reveals that Magearna’s arm opens into a mechanical flower of destruction. We’d previously seen this feature in its design specs from one of the movie’s trailers, but didn’t know what it was. The pink attack is likely powered by Magearna’s Soul Heart.

Since Magearna is a Pokemon-EX, we don’t get to see its Pokedex information (oh well). But at least it’ll get a full art card in the set! :)
