Hey everyone, I was hoping you all might be able to help me out a little. My u, al.ost 8 year has been into Pokemon for almost a year now, ever since his mom got him Pokemon Go. It snowballed from there, as he started collecting cards for the cool pictures, then learned there's a real game behind them and wanted to learn to play. Now, he wants to take the step from playing has dad and cousins, which he has done for months, to playing against others.
So, how should I go about doing That? Should we build a deck around standard, or go with expanded (he got a bunch of BW cards from a cousin who doesn't play anymore, though nothing to great)? I was thinking standard to keep it simple, as expanded has so many more cards to pull from. What kind of deck? It seems Greninja is a good budget deck and he has a couple Greninjas already, but being a kid, he is drawn to the flashy EX and GX cards.
