It seems that I can get the plays started just fine, however, in the middle I can't get it going. Any advice y'all can give me or show me your deck lists so I can get better?

I played Gar-Lucario quite a bit, and I think you may try Zoroark GX version to draw a lot, or just stick with Vulpix, evolve your Pokemons, also use EXP Shares, I think they're crucial, because you can't do double attachments in this deck.
In the middle game just try to put maximum resources on board, 2 lucario 2 garchomp, and have a constant flow of Cynthias. Also use Pal Pad.
