I saw an episode pic of the new Kalos Saga and it looks like Ash's new travel companions are Clement the Electric Type Gym Leader of Kalos and his little sister Bonnie. It's also looking like Serena the female trainer you can play as in the actual X and Y games is going to be one of Ash's new rivals instead of being a companion this time like with May and Dawn who are both playable female trainers in Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald and Diamond/Pearl/Platinum.

Gyah look at that scene at :43 in the video. Ash looks so much older! Please let this be true and not just part of the new design. Even if it is just design... this is definitely one of his better ones in my opinion (Sinnoh.... bleh.)
I could see him getting Froakie, definitely. At first I thought it would be Chespin, but Froakie does seem pretty fitting.
I really don't see any difference from this Nurse Joy to the Unova one, but I'm okay with that. I really like this Officer Jenny though, much, much MUCH better than Unova Jenny....
I hope Team Rocket will be more like how they were in the Unova series, they actually had something going for them. The bumbling buffoons act got tiring after 659 episodes.
Overall the anime trailer looks... pretty good. I'm excited to see what the XY anime will have in store for us. I already like his traveling companions so far, which is something I don't think I've ever said for any past gens... Bonnie just looks adorable and I think her motive of finding a wife for her (what, 10 year old brother?) is funny and would serve for some great awkward comedy. Kind of like a reverse Brock scenario. Serena's flashback of Ash looked EXTREMELY wistful... could she have some sort of crush on him? I usually hate it when they pair Ash with any of his new female companions, it just feels like they keep trying to fill the role of Misty (which I know they really are) but maybe if they play it out right I could get used to this... especially since they were apparently childhood friends, that always makes for good romance. Overall, I am optimistic about this new anime and I'm hoping for a change for the better from the previous ones.
Also, the clips of the starters were absolutely adorable.

So I wasn't the only one who thought Ash is looking older?! I really hope he will start ageing.
I also like Bonnie and Clemont as traveling companions. They seem interesting and funny. I am curious what that flashback of Ash was about. Did Serena only see him shortly or do they actually know each other? It would be awesome if they appeared to be old friends.
If Serena is just as old as Ash, does that mean she also traveled through previous regions before? We might see him travel around with a more experienced trainer this time around, rather than a beginner! She might have also traveled through various regions. On the other hand, May and Dawn were also 10 years old I believe, and started as beginners while Ash had already traveled through several regions.

How would you like to see her?
I would like it if she was the caring friendly type of trainer, but fierce in battle. She will probably care much about Pokémon, like Ash's other companions. I don't think she will specialise in a specific type of Pokémon. I'm curious about what her dream is. Would she also go after gym badges? I don't think they will go back to contests, but there could always be new things!

I think Sere wants to be a fashion designer/model and will capture Pokémon that can make clothes and look stunning or cute to help her.
I'd also like to see her with a split personality, where one moment she's all calm and the next she snaps.

Sorry to say but, plotwise, the anime is pure crap.
Putting Serena as Ash's travelling companion and long gone childhood friend is turning her into a joke. Her game design is much better but her anime version is more childish (look at her face), and whoever gets associated with Ash gets a negative reputation.
About the gym leader and her baby sister. Is that whole thing of "finding a bride" really acceptable? WTF???? The girl is just a child and her brother seems to be only a couple years older. What's next? Some guy looking to for the 7th wife to complete his harem? Is this still Pokémon?

No I know he has Dedenne but I heard about Bunnelby from a competing site that is trustworthy. (y'know relatively considering it isn't an official pokemon site) I think they got it from the magazine Dengeki which revealed the first 2 japanese episode titles.

Couldn't agree with you more. I sort of wonder if the show (for once in its run) is aiming for older viewers as well as young ones. If so, then they'll have a little more maturity going on. Perhaps that's reason enough to make romance more easy to imply. But what I wonder is Ash going to actually reciprocate feelings like that?

I am excited about Ash's new outfit. It is my favorite of all the generations so far. Particularly this picture.
Considering it has been roughly 16 years since he's been 10 *sigh* it would be nice for him to either grow physically or adopt a more mature attitude.
I'd also like him to add some diversity and strength to his team, not just capture 3 starters and be like "you guys are so adorable, I want you to stay just the way you are!" This is understandable with Pikachu since its a mascot and rather tough, but you're training to be a pokemon master, broseph! Start making your team as strong as possible by evolving your pokemon!
If it were up to me, I'd have him capture the one Froakie that we have seen in a screenshot and train it to be strong, as well as venturing around Kalos looking for the strongest pokemon. But I suppose if this show is aimed at children, Ash will keep them in their cute-little-delicate-likeable-weak-feeble pre evolution stage. *again, sigh*
Sorry for the rants. My hopes are high with X and Y, seeing Ash look on meticulously as he fends off the rampaging Garchomp, hopefully realizing what a strong pokemon truly is.

I totally agree with Ash having to evolve his Pokémon. It's nice that they start of cute and sweet, but I want to see them grow into strong powerhouses. Not simply so they can win every battle, but to show the progress they made.
Since nostalgia seems to play a big part this generation, do you think Ash will start using his older Pokémon in Kalos before reaching the league?
I would love to see some of his older Pokémon evolve. Typhlosion needs to happen! Since they finally decided to let Ash have Dark-type Pokémon, Corphish could evolve as well.
