Weighting Booster Packs

So I am on Troll and toad, just browsing, and I notice that they are selling Next Destinies blister booster packs for only $2.39 per pack. Minus shipping, that is only about $86 for 36 packs. With shipping, it is still cheaper than a booster box would cost. I understand that buying loose boosters appose to a box throws off the ratio of getting ultra rares, but something still didn't feel right. Being skeptical, I google'd around wondering if this is a scam.

I have found that people say some places weight each loose booster pack and are able to tell if the pack has an ultra rare or not. The ones with Primes/FA/ or secret rares they open and sell the singles for money, while the rest they sell back. Is this true? It sounds almost like conspiracy talk to me. But do people really weight the booster packs and are able to tell the very miniscule difference in weight between a booster pack with an ultra rare and without? Does anyone else do this or even heard of this?

I have never heard such things. I think it's better for you to buy a Booster Box.

Yes, people do do this, and it does work. This is why you should never buy loose packs, especially from an online store.

Yeah, I am pretty sure we have someone here locally who does it! They run a league e.t.c and we always used to go there. The person always had a HUGE stack or rares (Primes, FA's, Legend halfs) and would always sell booster packs. Hardly ever saw ANYONE pull anything of value from the booster packs either! was always just normal rare's e.t.c but hardly ever any primes =/

Whoa. Yes this happens. Yes people don't like it. But it is still a profitable thing, and that's why people do it.

Although, you cannot accuse T&T of doing such a thing. From what I know, they don't weight their packs. I've also bought loose packs from them countless times and I've always pulled at least 1 Ultra Rare. They do not weight them.

Sales

ShadowLugia: "Why'd you shoot me?"
Me: "I gave you the bullets from the Sniper Riffle"
ShadowLugia: "I wanted the gun, not the bullets from the gun"

RE: Weighting Booster Packs

From my personal experience, don't ever buy packs from specialty stores, they know about weighing and use the singles market to their advantage already. Whether or not places like TnT or gathering ground weigh their packs I can't say since I've never bought packs online, but I could believe it either way. Only buy packs from places like Target or Wal Mart imo, general retail stores like these are where I get my best pulls from packs .

I would just go on and buy a box if you are buying packs at that scale, it ensures that your pull rates won't be skewed, and it's only ~$10 worth of a difference.

@ Zorua, how many packs do you buy at a time to "always [get] at least 1 ultra rare"?

Oh jeez, lol. Uh, I've bought so many times I've lost count, but I've bought anywhere between 1-18 packs at a time, the latter only once though. Note, I did say at least one. Usually when I buy more than 9, I get 2 Ultra's.

I've done it with a scale in a lab. It works.

I've heard a pair of calipers work better than weighing FWIW.

RE: Weighting Booster Packs

So would it be possible for me to go to Walmart with a scale and weigh packs while they are still in the things used to hang them and actually see a defference?

RE: Weighting Booster Packs

What do you mean by while they are still in the things used to hang them? ^That'll seem kinda silly. Tongue I guess you could, though most people prefer to buy a box, weigh them all, and sell all the ones that probably don't have any thicker ones like primes and FAs.

RE: Weighting Booster Packs

Before RH were in every pack people would buy boxes, put them in the fridge for 1-3 days and let the foils get cold bend so they knew which packs to open. Sell the money singles, do the same with a second box then mix the boosters from box 1 and 2 together and sell them for cheap as a box to 3rd Party retailers and hobbyshops for straight profit.

This practice almost killed the WoW TCG and was a huge problem back when Pokemon first started when Chrizards and Blastoises were going for 150-200+
The same goes for Yu-Gi-Oh when Raigeki and other cards were 20+ and boxes only cost around 50 bucks.

Places like Target and Wal-Mart actually use attempt to arrest people who were using pocket scales when buying boosters because they thought it was them trying to rip off the store.

Whan you take a pack out of a box thay are as

[Image: images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQdYTEdIoMX1OC0tHKeJLF...DKczRXuFwQ]

Whan you buy one at a store like Walmart they are as

[Image: images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTwulKXHf3o2hrdGM7PJBU...cWoe1pWSnS]

So basically can they be weighed while like the above^
