It probably excludes GXs and not Vs because they wanted to make sure 3-prize Pokemon were excluded. But VMAX are already excluded because it says it has to be a Basic Pokemon so, they're just trying to exclude Tag Teams, which most Basic GXs that will be left in Standard by the time this thing...

Team Up releases February 1st, but that's also the same day Full Metal Wall releases in Japan. It's probably being banned because there's something in the set that totally breaks it. We'll probably see Maxie's get banned with the release of Team Up, then Unown DAMAGE get banned with the release...

I agree with you. Palkia-GX can easily take the place of the promo Phione, same with Dialga-GX and Heatran. The problem comes in who's filling the slot between Diancie and Guzzlord. I'd like to say it's Buzzwole but it seems like he's getting cut for some reason. Maybe it's SM-P #21, Rockruff...

Nope, the alt type Dialga and Palkia aren't gonna be in our SM6. 7 GXs have been confirmed for our set (Greninja, Naganadel, Lucario, Zygarde, Yveltal, Xerneas, and Necrozma) and there are only 8. This and the fact that we've only gotten 5 revealed from the Japanese SM6 proper makes me think...

A bit of an alternative use for this, its GX attack is very eye-catching, you could tech an Ultra Necrozma-GX into a deck with Espeon-EX (i.e. Decidueye-GX?) with a single Counter Energy. If you're behind on prizes, you could bench this boy, slap on a Counter Energy, GX attack, then next turn...

Well at least Mesprit's attack will probably be a real easy cost like a [C][C] or something. Just guessing. All seriousness though, it really sucks that it has to be your opponent's benched Pokemon, otherwise you could just easily shuffle back in a Pokemon who was just Kiawe'd.
