    Ninetales/Amoongus

I've playtested this deck quite a bit and I see two (related) main problems with it. The first is the unavoidable fact that there are turns when you will not have an available bench Foongus or a Ninetales (or even a standby Vulpix) so any savvy opponent knows that you are not attacking anything...

    FluffyChomp

Pokemon Communication is very useful for grabbing extra Swablus or setting up that first Gabite.

    (1) 2012 Video Game Championship Rules Posted! [9/19]

How is Jirachi *not* on that banned list? It's also a little unfair that Thunderus and Tornadus are not banned since if you only have one game you do not have one of the two legendaries.

    DPPt/HGSS Seismic toss.

this is correct and i think there is a FRLG tutor that teaches seismic toss for free one time. so basically you have to go back to the old games, get a properly IVed and right natured chansey and then take it from there.

    DPPt/HGSS Hacking. Good or Bad?

hacking doesn't mean a thing to me until those pokemon are used in competitive play. then it becomes cheating.

    Absol G LV.X from Supreme Victors (#141) [7/22]

i think absol lvl x is a fine card but i wanted to post to clarify that it does NOT combo well with chatot g. chatot g's has a one-shot, put into play, poke-power. to re-use chatot g means using a poke-turn or ssu - cards which are far better used on absol lvl x directly and just taking your...

My thoughts on the meta for the upcoming city championships

FGD is Flygon/Gardy/Gallade/Dusknoir and even sometimes Mewtwo. If that seems like a lot of pokemon it is, which makes the deck unstable but if it can survive the first KO or two and get set up it is very difficult to overcome.

My thoughts on the meta for the upcoming city championships

FGD dominated flytrap and flychamp combinations in BRs around here and nothing in Arceus changes that. if there is an elite level player in your area running it it will be the Best Deck. i don't think any of the old favorite SP decks are going to do very well. it's pretty clear to me that...

    Ruling Shaymin Level up

think about the name thing this way. say there was a pokemon named 'jones'. you can only have four jones cards in your deck. but say you have special pokemon card 'bob jones' which can be put on an active jones pokemon, using all the other jones' attacks, powers, etc. . 'bob jones' and...

    Ruling Shaymin Level up

if you have a shaymin level x active that's what it is, it isn't just shaymin anymore -- it's shaymin level x now, so yes the name of the card does change. the shaymin lvl x card is a kind of shaymin, which is why it counts as one of the 4 you can have in your deck, but it is quite distinct...

    Ruling Shaymin Level up

the answer is definitely no, you cannot level up a card which has already been levelled up. if you look towards the upper left part of any level x card is quite clearly says 'goes on pokemon xxx' and at the bottom of the card (just above the weakness, resistance and retreat) it also says on what...

Is Gengar Lv.X good or bad?

gengar lvl x will be a godsend in matchups that try to run benched lvl x techs like shaymin lvl x or dialga g lvl x. even though gengar lvl x has much better synergy with the PA gengar i would definitely still use it with gengar sf (which is still the best). level down might even nab you the...

Reflecting on the DPPt Era of the TCG

It really just hit me the other day that this is the last set with level x's. yes I know there will be tourney legal level x's around for the next year and a half but at this point, we've seen them all. overall i liked the level x mechanism. i certainly liked it more than EX pokemon. i never...

    Metagame Expectations for Cities

about gyarados and expert belt, firstly i don't think i would attach it unless it was going to get me an important KO which i could not get otherwise. that way even if my opponent comes back and knocks me out the worst that has happened is that i broke even. secondly the mere threat of knowing...

    Metagame Expectations for Cities

gyarados must be the most misunderstood deck in the format right now. 90% of the criticism/counters i see of it are rather minor, but the authors act like they're presenting an auto-loss. there must be some bad gyarados builds at a lot of local leagues to perpetuate this perception. unless...
