Shining Mew, Shining Ho-Oh, and Marshadow from SM3+ ‘Shining Legends!’

Gosh dang it Pokemon, I haven’t even slept yet because of SM3! The Japanese Pokemon Card website has officially revealed SM3+ Shining Legends!

As we posted back in March, the set will be released on July 15th, the same day as the 20th movie. It’ll feature 72 cards, including Shining Mew, Mewtwo, and Pikachu. Each booster pack will come with six cards, with one of the cards being a holo. Presumably, the Pokemon in the set are inspired by the plot of the 20th movie, the first Kanto episode, and Ash’s overall adventures in Kanto.

Like in Neo Destiny, all the Shining Pokemon will have their shiny coloration. They will also be printed on a special holofoil paper. Perhaps it will be similar to the holofoil used for the Shining Pokemon of the Neo era?

The cards from this set will probably be part of our English SM4 set in November.

Shining Mew – Psychic – HP30
Basic Pokemon

[P] Legendary Guidance: Search your deck for 2 Energy cards and attach them to your Pokemon in any way you like. Then, shuffle your deck.

[P] Beam: 10 damage.

Weakness: Psychic (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 1

Marshadow – Psychic – HP70
Basic Pokemon

Ability: Desperation
When you play this Pokemon from your hand to your Bench, both players shuffle their hands into their decks and draw 4 cards.

[P][C] Shadow Punch: 30 damage. This attack’s damage isn’t affected by Resistance.

Weakness: Darkness (x2)
Resistance: Fighting (-20)
Retreat: 1

A Shining Ho-Oh promo will also be given out to those who purchase a booster box of the set from participating stores. It will be printed on special holofoil paper like the Shining Pokemon from the main set. Shining Ho-Oh will also be in the set with alternate artwork.

Shining Ho-Oh – Fire – HP130
Basic Pokemon

Ability: Flap of the Golden Wings
If this Pokemon is your Active Pokemon and is Knocked Out by damage from an opponent’s Pokemon’s attack, move 2 Basic Energy from this Pokemon to your Benched Pokemon in any way you like.

[R][C][C][C] Fire Blast: 110 damage. Discard 1 Energy attached to this Pokemon.

Weakness: Lightning (x2)
Resistance: Fighting (-20)
Retreat: 2

A Ho-Oh-GX blister pack will also be released on July 1st containing a jumbo Ho-Oh-GX, six booster packs, and an exclusive Ash’s Pikachu promo.

Ash’s Pikachu – Lightning – HP70
Basic Pokemon

[C] I Choose You: Search deck for a Pokemon and put it into your hand. Then, shuffle your deck.

[L][L][L] Thunderbolt: 100 damage. Discard all Energy attached to this Pokemon.

Weakness: Fighting (x2)
Resistance: Metal (-20)
Retreat: 1

Thanks goes to Jake C. and Andrew C. from our translation team for the translations!

Now to see if we'll even get them in English. I'm sure hoping we do, but Ash's Pikachu will probably be unlikely. Still, always hoping for them.

Wow, mew's attack is really good. Too bad MEGA mewTWO is dead.

Shining Mew is not half bad. Especially since it allows any energy to be attached. That's potentially 2 DDE or 2DCE, not to mention other Special Energies.

Ash's Pikachu is pretty much outclassed by Alolan Vulpix, which searches out two Pokemon for free.

Mew is interesting; it helps with energy acceleration in Psychic decks, but it's way too easily KOed.

Is it just me or is the Shiny Mew Textured? I see mini lines over the body on the card. Looks cool.

I'd think it might actually have seen some play if it had a [C] or [.] cost. Trading a prize for Special Energy acceleration isn't the worst thing possible, but limiting it to Psychic decks really reduces the probability of ever developing a niche.

Two energy cards!!! That could be worth giving up a prize card.

    • Shining Mew - I don't think we'll get this card in English along with Shiny Ho-oh but we'll see how it goes. The attack is pretty good, you can attach a DCE for free. Good for any decks, but the downside is the HP, 30? Come on! 3 Geodudes.
    • Shining Ho-oh - Built-in Exp. Share x2, period! 2-3 Geodudes.
    • Marshadow - I love the ability, makes Yanmega BREAK playable when SM4 released on November. Forget the attack. 3 Geodudes.
    • SM3+ - Come on! Give us a Durant and Zangoose since SM3 doesn't have these, guys. (And also Bellosom)

Shining Mew isn't all that bad, though would definately have liked something that doesn't get ohko'd by pretty much every competitive 1 energy attack.

Marshadow is pretty solid, the Ability is all it really needs to be included in a deck as a one or two-of.

Let's see what kind of GX's end up here, could be interesting.

They just had to add that extra energy requirment for Ho-oh for the fireblast attack.

Just to add, atleast give little Mew more than 30HP.

Is there a chance of these coming out in English as a mini set instead of SM4?

Ash’s Pikachu(even tho Alolan Vulpix is better tho) and Shining Mew would work somewhat will for get Charizard GX and Burning Energy attached to it. And hopefully we get shining Ho-oh would love to try pair it with Ho-ho GX It sound interesting in theory boost up shining and maybe boost the Ho-oh in the bench just to three the sit on shining and two maybe one shot your opponent then if it dies you have the you have the Ho-oh in the back ready thanks to FoTGW.

Come on, that Ho-oh is too awesome. Reminds me of the good old shining cards from Neo sets. But then I think we already get a ton of secret (or hyper) rares, so will these be added on top of those? Fingers crossed.
